Short, because there is not much to say.

RelayJoe exists to tell a relay team when its people run. Almost everything it needs for that is race data, not personal data, and it is built so that the personal part stays small.
RelayJoe is operated by Protify Consulting LLC, which is the company responsible for the data described below. “We” means that company.
What we collect
If you are a captain. An email address and whatever your identity provider returns when you sign in — we support email, Google and Apple. That account exists so your teams are still there next season.
If you are a runner. The name and pace estimate your captain entered for you, the times you actually ran, and a token identifying the device you joined on. You do not need an account. If you choose to make one, we also hold the email address it is attached to.
From the app itself. The race event log: who started a leg, who finished one, when, and any corrections a captain made. This is the product. It is shared with your team and with anyone your captain gives a spectator link to.
What we do not collect
- Location. RelayJoe has no GPS tracking of any kind. Handoffs are recorded because a person tapped a button. We never build a trail of where anyone was.
- Contacts, photos, health data, or anything from other apps.
- Advertising or cross-site tracking identifiers. There are no third-party ad or analytics trackers in the app, and this website sets no tracking cookies.
Where it is stored
On Amazon Web Services in the United States. Sign-in is handled by AWS Cognito, and the join links your captain sends go out through Amazon SES. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Race history is stored on your phone as well, which is what makes the app work without a signal.
Who sees it
Your team, and anyone holding a spectator link your captain generated. Captains can rotate that link at any time, which immediately invalidates the old one. We do not sell data, share it with advertisers, or hand it to other teams.
Your choices
- Notifications are opt-in, and each alert can be turned off individually.
- A runner account is always optional and always dismissible. Declining it costs you nothing except race history between years.
- Ask us to export or delete your data and we will. Deleting a captain account deletes the teams it owns.
- A captain can revoke any device’s access to their team at any time.
Children
RelayJoe is meant for adults organising relay teams and is not directed at children under 13. If a minor is running on your team, they are joining through a link you control and we would rather you hold that device token than they do.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect, we will say so before it takes effect rather than quietly restamping the date.
